Apologies

Since being back in Wellington I've had little time on the computer let alone in my room. It's been raining so Stephen, Chris, Brian and I have been watching lots of movies and keeping it pretty laid back. I've also been going to classes and doing some work (don't worry, Mom and Dad!) so I've just haven't gotten around the properly updating the blog.
I'm pretty exhausted tonight so I won't write an update on my trip to Samoa, but instead a quick update on my life in Wellington.
It's become very chilly here and it feels very much like fall. It also has been raining (Wellington fall weather) and windy. This week went by pretty fast because the weather was pretty much the same until the weekend arrived. Monday and Tuesday night was movie night (we are watching all the movies Brian cries over... it's on our bucket list) so we watched "The Bucket List" (a running joke and theme of our time in NZ) and "Click". Both movies are really not my up of tea but they were fun to laugh about and enjoy with my friends. Wednesday, typically student night and when we go out, saw Chris and I cooking dinner at Stafford and then watching youtube videos. Thursday night we watched "The Rock." Julia, I explained to Chris your idea of "best picture" and we all agreed that "The Rock" has some excellent Michael Bay shots. Favorite moment, "I'm going to take pleasure in gutting you, boy." I fell asleep during the movie (who knew it was so long!?).
Friday was really amazing. Chris and I made burritos (Stephen and Brian later joined) and then with a group of people we went to the Hurricanes rugby game. This game was against The Blues, the Auckland team and further, it was going to be technically the last game played in Wellington so there was a huge turn out. The game was pretty exciting and fun. At one point a streaker came out on the field on got roughly tackled by a security guard. I missed it but a good amount of my friends saw it happen. Haha. The Hurricanes won by an impressive amount and it turns out that they're the top of the league right now, so they'll be hosting the semi-finals at some point. So we get to see one more rugby game!
After the game we came back to Stafford and had a little pre-game before going out to the bars. Everyone was really crazy and celebrating the success of the Hurricanes. We went to a bar called the Occidental that serves a free beer in exchange for a ticket from the game. We had a little glitch and I actually had copies of 5 tickets I had bought for a group of us. Needless to say, no one payed for a beer at that bar. After that we went to a bar called The Temperance which Stephen had free beer vouchers so yet again we didn't pay for any beers.
Saturday was a slow start. Chris, Stephen and I tried to go to Shannons rugby game which started at 11:30 but none of us got our act together fast enough to catch a bus on time to see the kick off. Fortunately we later found out she didn't even play.
Instead we went to lunch at an american style restaurant called "Chicago" with a large group of people. We sat around talking for quite a while, even after we had all finished our meals. Afterwards we walked down the pier and came across an event called "J-day." Haha. Then we got some ice cream and saw some adorable alaskan type dogs (they weren't huskies, but I'm not sure if they were malamute). Someone said, "Are they mixed with anything?" and Brian said, "Um, yeah, adorable." Hahaha. They were very fluffy and nice and I pet them.
We all split up after that and Chris, Stephen and I went back to Stafford. Chris and I had plans to see a production of "Hedda Gabler" that evening, which Chris had to see for a class, so Chris was reading the play online while Stephen and later Brian and his flatmate Thomas hung out and talked. The night escalted to a large group of people all crowded in my flat being loud and rowdy. However, around 8ish, Chris and I had to go and we left for the play.
The play was very very good and very interesting. It was a modern day spin on the original and the writer had placed it in Wellington. The speech and settings were all local and they incoporated a Samoan family. Chris and I got excited when they mentioned Aro Valley, where Chris lives and also when one of the characters refered to a notorious homeless man, Blanket Man. The actors were all fantastic but in particular the actors who played Elliot and Max were very captivating. Both Chris and I agreed that the play was better than seeing a movie and we made plans to see more while still in Wellington.
Afterwards we were starving and ended up eating at Burger Fuel and then going to Stephens. There was a crazy party going on above Stephens flat and we were a bit overwhelmed by the craziness of it all (one guy definitely had a death wish he was so drunk) so we spent the evening sitting in Stephens flat talking and looking at old pictures of mine on facebook.
Today was the first sunny day in a long time. Chris, Stephen, and Brian's flatmate Scott went to the farmers market and bought fruits and vegetables. I bought a kg of fresh kiwis (they're in season and so delicious). Then we had brunch at a wonderful cafe called the Dixon St. Deli and went to Stephens to eat pineapple and, funny enough, watch the tail end of A Walk to Remember. hahaha.
I ended the day reading in Civic Center and getting progressively colder waiting for Chris to join me as the sun was setting. Once he did we read for another hour of so and then went to Borders to read for a bit more. Then we bought cookie mix and supplies to bake cookies, went out to dinner with Stephen at a deliciously cheap Thai restaurant and then went to Stephens, baked cookies and watched "Rushmore."

Now that my current life is up to date, hopefully tomorrow I will have a chance to sit and write/upload more pictures from my vacation!
