Chris and Stephen are both musically inclined and both bought themselves some things to play with while here. Chris bought himself a fender guitar (which he plans on reselling later on) and Stephen bought a drum (which he also plans on selling). Since making these purchases the two of them have been having serious jam sessions. Chris plays and sings songs that he wrote and played with his band back at home and Stephen accompanies him on his drum. It's been really nice to chill and listen to them play. Both of them had been really missing their instruments back at home and now that they have something to play with the atmosphere has just been really happy and relaxed. Everyone just sits there smiling, moving with the music. It's pretty cheesy sounding, but it's true.
Last night we all sat in Morgans room, while Morgan got ready, and they played music and I just sat listening. Then we went to Stephens flat where we all got into some very heated conversations about all sorts of things ranging from psychology, horse riding to even 9/11.
Today Stephen, Chris and I met up at Chris's and tried to go to a flea market that didn't happen and tried to go to a rugby game that wasn't happening here. It was kind of sad, but we walked around the city a whole lot and also got the day started early. At one point we were walking through a little park/garden area and we saw the most beautiful cat (I guess there are cats in gardens afterall). She was this sleek almost calico color, but it was really more like leopard spots in a sort of light cream color swirled together with greys. Her name was Lola and she was hunting pigeons (an honorable job). Stephen and I (both cat people) were all over her for a good couple minutes. She was extremely affectionate and followed us a little ways after we decided to continue on our way. It made me miss my kitties at home a lot.
Anyway, since Stephen and Chris had planned out all the failed activities for the day, I made the plan for the rest of the day which was to take their instruments up to the Botanical Gardens and lie in the rose garden playing music. This turned out to be a success. Our friend Shannon joined us and while Stephen and Chris played Shannon and I wandered around the rose garden sniffing flowers and occasionally coming back to just lie and listen to the music. We did this for I think a good 2 hours. After that Stephen, Chris and I went back to my flat where we cooked burritos and listened to The Beatles.
Tonight we're celebrating Stephens birthday. He actually doesn't turn 22 until Monday, but we figured it'd be a bad idea to celebrate on a school night. So we're celebrating tonight, not sure what we're doing, but it should be fun. Somehow I've found myself only hanging out with Stephen and Chris these past couple of days, but don't worry to all those who are reading this, I do have other friends but they've all gone off to Taupo for the weekend. Also, my goal is to start making some Kiwi friends. It has only been the first week of school, so I have plently of time, but I have high hopes for it happening.
